Front Projection screens 2D/3D digital using non polarised light

Film FormatesPerl or Perlux™ brand gain screens are the most popular 2D front projection surfaces. They reflect more light back to the audience than matt white surfaces and are available in three gain levels: 1.4, 1.8, and 2.2.

Perlux™ screens are recommended for digital cinema auditoriums. They can reduce digital operating costs through reduced power consumption, smaller lamps, and less frequent lamp replacements.

Specification guidelines by digital screen size:

Perlux™ 140 for widths greater than 9 metres (30 feet)

Perlux™ 180 for widths greater than 12 metres (40 feet)

Perlux™ 220 for widths greater than 20 metres (66 feet) as well as certain 3D systems

Matt Plus screens 2D/3D digital using non polarised light

Considered by many experts to be the best matt white projection surface.

Matt Plus is a versatile screen surface intended for use in a variety of auditoriums, generally in dark conditions.

The flexible PVC-based material provides wide viewing angles, high contrast, bright pictures and excellent colour temperature.

The seam welding process ensures the screens have no visible seams under projection conditions. Screens are available perforated or non-perforated depending on where the speakers are placed.

The surface is foldable for easy transportation, cinema access and installation.

Matt Plus Mini-Perf (MP)

Smaller diameter perforations (less than half the diameter of other projection surfaces) and so is recommended in situations in which the audience will be close to the screen.

Matt Preview screens 2D/3D digital using non polarised light

Used in preview and small theatres where the seats are close to the screen and the projector power is relatively high, generally in dark conditions.

The flexible PVC-based material provides wide viewing angles, high contrast, bright pictures and excellent colour temperature.

The seam welding process ensures the screens have no visible seams under projection conditions. Screens are available perforated or non-perforated depending on where the speakers are placed.

Matt Preview screens are not foldable and must be rolled for transportation.

Contrast Grey 70   

Enhances contrast for projectors that aren’t optimised for black or near black colours. They are generally intended for dark conditions, but can also minimise the effects of ambient light.

Matt White 100                 

General purpose contrast screen intended for a variety of auditoriums, generally in dark conditions

Matt White 100 Super       

Same material as Matt White 100, produced off-roll at a width of 3 metres.

White/Black 100     

Similar to Matt White 100 with black reverse side for blocking ambient light behind the screen.

Stereo                            

Designed for 3D applications with a low depolarisation rate.

High Contrast Grey screens

High contrast surfaces are designed for use with LCD or DLP video projectors that aren’t optimised to project black or near black colours.

The grey surface reinforces the blacks and enhances the contrast. They are intended for a variety of auditoriums, generally in dark conditions, though they can also minimise the effects of ambient light

High contrast grey is a coated vinyl with a gain level of 0.6, and is available perforated or non perforated – the choice depends on where the speakers are placed.

Other contrast front projection surfaces are available within the range of uncoated screens.

Rear projection screens

Rear projection screens are used in smaller auditoriums that don’t have a projection box but have space behind the screen. They are also used a lot in simulators such as those found on theme park rides.

They are available with a range of economical rear projection surfaces, including a combined front and rear projection.

Rear projection screens use a formulation that uses an unsupported PVC base with built-in diffusion to overcome hot-spotting. They are excellent in a variety of ambient lighting conditions, meet a good variety of contrast and transmission requirements, and are also ideal for edge-blending projection.

The screens have no visible seams under projection conditions and can be folded for transportation, which makes them perfect for events.

Cream

A cream coloured screen for use in low ambient light. Can be used for both front and rear projection.

Grey 65

Rear projection. For use in controlled light conditions. Suitable for edge blending projection.

Grey 100

Rear projection. A higher flexibility alternative to Grey 65.

Grey 160

Rear projection. A higher transmittance alternative to Grey 100.

Grey 230

Rear projection. Gives the highest transmittance.

Stereo

Rear projection. Ideal for linear polarising passive 3D systems.

Blue

Rear projection. Holds a good image with high contrast. Can also be used for reflecting light to give scenes a cold feel.

Midnight

Rear projection. Gives a high contrast image and works well in ambient light. Useful as dark backdrop. 

Crystal

Frosted surface with high translucence.  Suitable for lighting and scenic effects.

Clear 

Completely translucent surface for lighting and scenic effects.

Screens use seam welding process to ensure there are no visible seams under projection conditions. They can be folded for transportation.

Silver screen used for 3D films

Spectral™ 240

Special ultra-high brightness silver screen. It gives excellent performance with passive 3D applications using polarised light such as RealD.  It also performs well under 2D conditions. Silver aluminium flake-based coating applied to the unique base material provides high gain characteristics, strong signal to noise ratios, generous viewing angles and excellent colour temperature.

Spectral™ 300

Specialist ultra-high brightness silver screen with an increased gain of 25% over Spectral™ 240.  It gives excellent performance with passive 3D applications using polarised light in situations where it has proved problematic to achieve suitable brightness levels, such as 3D presentations in larger auditoriums. It also performs well under 2D conditions and can be used for 3D/4D rides, simulators and special effects.

It uses the same silver aluminium flake-based coating as Spectral™ 240, with the same benefits.

The screens have no visible seams under projection conditions and are available perforated or non-perforated: the choice depends on where the speakers are placed.

Spectral 240/300 can’t be folded and must be rolled for transportation.
